Dear Aleph Bet Family.

Sending your first child to pre-school can be an emotional experience as you all know.

With graduation looming, I have been thinking a lot about Chana’s experiences in Aleph Bet Preschool, as well as our experiences as a family.  Aleph Bet has been a home away from home for Chana, someplace that she feels loved, embraced, treasured, and understood.  There has not been a day that she has not looked forward to going to school, and every minute of the school day.  Knowing that she will spend each day learning, playing, and most importantly being loved has made it a pleasure for me to send her each day.  From the warmth and unconditional love that she has received, the

education followed naturally.  So many creative projects, books, stories and themes,

all centered on the children. A terrific balance of “academics,” and creative, imaginative play.  I especially love that Aleph Bet as the warmth of a family.  All the children know all the staff, and the entire staff feels responsible for every child.  And not only that, but I feel that our entire family is looked out for by the whole staff.  Chaskie and Meira are treated like part of the Aleph Bet family too.  Which is why it is a good thing I don’t have to say “Good-bye,” which would be so hard, but “Thank-you for everything you have done for Chana, and see you next year!!”

With gratitude,

Anna, Daniel, Chana, Chaskie and Meira Yolkut

The school’s small student/teacher ratio provides a very personalized program, while keeping all of the advantages of a much larger program.
- Todd Weinberg

My children learned by having fun with hands-on activities and didn’t even realized that they were developing cognitive skills.
- Kate Moore

My oldest child was so prepared when she entered kindergarten. She knew all of the prayers, the songs, and the stories. It did wonders for her self esteem and Jewish identity.
- Barbara Ben Meir

My child’s favorite time of the day is ‘open time.’ She loves getting to choose which area to play and learn in.
- Danya Binshtok

I’m impressed at how individualized the program is in order to meet the needs of my children. My youngest wanted to be active all the time with either gross or fine-motor play, while my older daughter preferred to sit.  Both are learning while their different needs are being met.
- Dr. Robin Zeiger

In one month attending ABP, my son has already learned so much about his Jewish identity. He comes home and teaches me! My husband and I are thrilled we found such a warm and loving environment for our child.
- Beila and Rodney Gray

I appreciated the close-knit atmosphere, which makes it feel like one big family and the personalized attention given by the wonderful teachers, especially the mitzvah note they send home every Friday.
- Sylvia Farbstein

From my very first visit to the school, I felt that the teachers and staff feel that it is their privilege to teach and spend time with the kids. This kind of intimate and caring environment is great for making the transition from being at home to school. There are parents from every stream of Judaism, even secular families, and everyone feels welcomed. That's important to me.
- Arnon Vered

ABP provided a safe, challenging, and loving environment for Lucy to learn about herself, her family and G-d.  The experiences she had at Aleph Bet made her so proud and delighted to be Jewish that she wondered why everyone wasn't Jewish.  After all, being Jewish is such fun!
- Lee Anne Washington

ABP offers so much more than any other program we looked into. Evan is happy to get up in the morning to go to school and, when I pick him up, he always says that he has had the best day. He has become such a good helper and listener. I am able to communicate with him about what he is learning and doing because the teachers keep me so well informed and Evan loves to tell me about his day.
- Paula Gravitt

This is our first year attending ABP, and while we haven't been part of the family very long, it's obvious the school offers a loving, nurturing environment for our son Philip. I appreciate the pro-active communication via email from the office staff, teachers, and PTA. I’m getting to know many of the parents I see on a daily basis from a car window.
- Michael Friedman

What a wonderful experience ABP was for us. Our children learned a lot and loved every day, but more importantly we grew through family interaction there. We all made lifelong friends, and feel strongly that we gave our children the absolute strongest framework in preschool that exists here in Richmond. This is a priceless gift, and one we are to this day proud that we provided.
- Dr. Limor Glazer Shwam and Gary David Shwam

My daughter Sofia started going to ABP when she was two and she had a very hard time adjusting to not being with me all the time. Everybody at ABP, not just my daughter's teachers, but other teachers, the staff, even Luis, the maintenance person, were so helpful, patient, and understanding. She soon adapted, and she now loves going to preschool. I feel extremely lucky to have such a wonderful preschool available for my daughter.
